Born in 1921 into an aristocratic family, she moves to Rome to attend the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. She rises to prominence on the big screen in the 1940s, quickly establishing herself as one of the most refined actresses of her generation. Throughout her career, she receives numerous acknowledgements, including the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, two David di Donatello Awards, a Nastro d’Argento and a Golden Globe nomination.

Alida works with some of the most important directors in cinema history, including Luchino Visconti, Michelangelo Antonioni and Alfred Hitchcock, soon becoming the embodiment of a discreet, timeless charm.
