Virginia Oldoini, Countess of Castiglione, is one of the most fascinating and influential women of the XIX century.
Born in Florence in 1837 from a noble family, she stands out since an early age for her intellect and magnetic presence.
At the age of 17, she marries Count Francesco Verasis of Castiglione, yet her path would soon transcend the traditional expectations of aristocratic women of that time. In 1855, at the request of her cousin Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, she is invited to Paris intending to gain influence at the court of Napoleon III and discreetly advance the cause of Italian unification.
